Walkthrough
If Canvas is already part of your workflow, connect it so courses, assignments, submissions, feedback, and grades can move between the two systems. Students stay in Canvas; the review workflow stays in TA39.
Setup, in three steps:
- Add TA39 as an external tool in Canvas. Depending on how your Canvas instance is configured, this may need to be enabled by an administrator first. Once authorized, your Canvas courses appear in TA39.
- Select the course that will be used for feedback. Existing Canvas assignments are visible.
- Create a new TA39 assignment linked to a Canvas assignment, with the rubric and template you prepared earlier.
This setup usually only needs to happen once.
From the student side, almost nothing changes. The assignment appears in Canvas, students submit there (inline or as a file upload), and the process looks the way it already looks to them.
Submissions sync automatically from Canvas into your TA39 assignment. No exports, no renames.
Generate, review, post. From here the workflow is the same: generate feedback, review it carefully, adapt where needed, decide what students receive. When you post grades and feedback, they return to the Canvas gradebook. Feedback appears in SpeedGrader or attached to the student's submission, depending on how your course is set up.
A note on terminology. Canvas uses courses (not classes) and SpeedGrader for the grading view. The TA39 review screen sits alongside SpeedGrader, not inside it.
